Q To begin this discussion, please summarize, in your own words, the 3 different standards of equality sociologists recognize. These can be found on the module overview page. Then, explain what equity means. Which standard of equality does it most closely relate to? Drawing from the articles in this module, and the previous data and evidence we have covered, highlight some of the key inequities in the cannabis industry and cannabis landscape (meaning, beyond the industry, life as it relates to cannabis). At minimum, cite one, but please feel free to cite as many as you would like. Please cite your sources!!! Assess the state of equity in the industry today. Where are we, in terms of the 3 different sociological standards of equality? Describe some of the ways activists, organizations, companies and legislators have attempted to close the cannabis inequity gap. What are some ways we can take equity even further? Use your imagination here. This can include resources, funding, policy initiatives, laws, etc.

The first standard of equality is equality of opportunity. Every person should get equal opportunity, and a person’s rewards should be based on merit and skill. The second standard is equality of condition. Every person’s situation is not identical, so people should be judged based on their condition. The third standard is equality of outcome which means that everyone should have the same resources and the minimum things required to survive.
